Visual Snow Syndrome Masterclass in the Philippines

A groundbreaking masterclass on Visual Snow Syndrome (VSS) was held in Manila last October 24, 2024 at the Marco Polo, Ortigas, bringing together eye care professionals to deepen their understanding of this elusive and often misunderstood neurological condition.

The event, titled “Visual Snow Syndrome Masterclass,” attracted local Optometrists, and eyecare providers from other Asian countries who are all eager to learn more about the latest advancements in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of VSS. The condition, which causes persistent visual disturbances such as “static” or “visual noise,” affects a significant portion of the population, yet remains underdiagnosed and poorly understood.

Dr. Charles Shidlofsky and Dr. Terry Tsang provided education on the complexities of VSS and introduced to the attendees how they can use Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Therapy (NORT) to help their VSS patients.   It was noted that NORT was able to reduce the symptoms of patients with VSS, allowing them to function better. This event was attended by local optometrists, and eyecare providers from other Asian countries.

Participants left the masterclass with a deeper understanding of Visual Snow Syndrome, marking a significant step toward raising awareness and improving quality of life for those affected by the condition in the Philippines.
